The story was so relatable and well written that I wanted more even at the end and luckily, it is actually not the end because there is a sequel which I hope to jump into soonest. It also reminded me to choose kindness over anger or revenge no matter how much it hurts because in the end, it always wins. The story brought to the fore how toxic relationships especially the ones we have with family members (especially parent-child relationships) can adversely affect who we become. Although at some point, Samantha’s character tried to frustrate me, I still couldn’t help but love her and her sweet heart. There was drama, there were things to laugh about, there were tears and there were a whole lot of lessons to take away from here. This is a multithemed story about toxic family relationships, self esteem, forgiveness, love, kindness, courage and hope. On the day her beautiful cousin and best friend gets married to James, Samantha’s Ex-boyfriend and love, her life takes a different turn as she meets the grumpy old widower at Hedgehog Hollow. Despite her kindness and selflessness, her relationships both romantically and otherwise don’t seem to work out well. Samantha has always put others first all her life. This is my first book by the author and all I had going into this story were the reviews I had read.
